Definitely agree with you on not enjoying sci fi! And it's a shame feeling out of place or "not smart enough" for not being on the same wavelength of interests with others. But that's what gives us depth, as you explained nicely. People are either book readers, movie watchers, both, or none! One is not better than the other. UNLESS, it comes to certain anime, that's a different story, in my opinion.

Love that the netflix adaptation made you more open to trying out the genre a little.
- I've built a collection of lists for "beautiful words" or "funny things" and it's always super rewarding to go back to. Also, love that you have a reason to fill up your never-ending collection of journals with handwritten inspiration! It makes the feeling more meaningful.
- You approach the act of producing and self exploration in such a delicate and caring way- silent creation is still creation, and we're more than one interest we choose to indulge in.
- 12 and 13- on taste being subjective and gatekeeping: Yes. What makes me guilty of gatekeeping most times is when people go out of their way to be close minded, but then end up trying it out on their own and liking it. It's frustrating yet flattering, haha.
